When we started
1997
How we started
Project started because they wanted to tackle problems commonly associated with night life, such as alcohol abuse and violence in and outside of clubs. The volunteers fostered a sense of harmony in the clubs themselves and worked with door staff to reach a better relationship with young people.
Our work
Young volunteers visited clubs to advise young clubbers on safety issues, alcohol and drug abuse, and liaised with door staff to engender a better understanding of under-18s. The volunteers have supported up to 2000 young people aged 13-17, operating under-18s nights at the clubs involved. Having maintained their efforts for three years, incidents of vandalism, violence and drug abuse in and around clubs was noticibly reduced.
