Young people provide litter campaigns that is aimed at working with residents organisations to raise awareness of environmental issues /recycling etc.
Who we are
16 young people from Liverpool
Where we're based
Anfield, Liverpool
When we started
Jun-09
How we started
The project began following a number of workshops with young people about their community. The young people launched the 'Trash Army' at a public event on World Environment Day 5th June 2009.
Our work
The project works with residents groups and partner agencies to raise awareness of the need to keep the community clean and to recycle unwanted items rather than throwing them out. The Army attend events to promote recycling - cleans up during major local events. and encourages local residents to recycle.
Future plans
We aim to continue to raise the profile of the work by undertaking themed activities. i.e. we have just completed constructing a dog made from reycled material named 'The General' who will go out with the Trash Army to encourage people to pick up their dogs waste.
