Our work
TIZ is the purpose built, fully interactive adolescent room at Demelza House Children's Hospice - designed and developed from scratch by young people living with progressive life limiting medical conditions. It is a place where young people visiting the hospice can relax and be teens, and is accessible for all young people with disabilities. A remote controlled system activates the TV, music systems, doors and lifts, and young people have created a jigsaw mural on the walls - to be added to by each new teen who uses the room.
Future plans
The Inclusion Zone at Demelza Hospice continues to provide a space for young people to relax. Update We're very sad to say that Nicole Dryburgh, who was part of the TIZ group, passed away on 16 May 2010. She was a truly inspiring and strong young woman, who worked tirelessly to fundraise and support young people living with cancer and debilitating injuries and conditions. Her website and Justgiving appeal in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust remain open in her memory.
