How we started

The helpline was set up in 2001 for a successful pilot yearm and has maintained a high level of operation.

Our work

The helpline is staffed by trained young vounteer counsellors. They come from a wide range of backgrounds and speak at least ten different languages. This is an advantage given that 40 percent of the calls coming through are from refugee communities. The service is welcomed by young British Muslims who comment that it is a relief to be able to share problems, and also have someone who can sympathise and provide practical advice.

Future plans

The Muslim Youth Helpline continues to run as a successful charity. Call 0808 808 2008 free from all UK landlines.
