MIH started in the summer of 2004. The project rolled out in a number of phases. Initially a small group of young people were recruited and trained to carry out some research with 200 of their peers and 30 older tenants on three Hackney estates - Stoke Newington, Navarino Mansions and Evelyn Court. The second phase of training helped group members to become effective in their roles and involved team work, decision making, dealing with conflict, holding effective meetings and action planning Makin' It happen youth forum it current have 14 members between ages 12 to 21 year old from different background and diversity. All in education or in work. Over the 5 years thirty six young people aged 12-21 have been actively involved in the MIH youth committee between 2004-9. The Cultural backgrounds of these have been quite diverse and include; Black British, African, White British, Turkish, Irish and Caribbean.

Our work

MIH is bridging the gap between young people and adults on ids estates and others and also working within the interests of young people. MIH is an Inspiration for young people. The Makin' It Happen (MIH) group have demonstrated that young people have a vested interest in their estates and what is happening locally. With the right support and training they also have the capacity, to become actively involved where they live.Educate young people on how to explore different careers in life and different opportunities Create a safer and better community; and help create a better ambience Ensure people know and understand the purpose of MIH Assess the progression of the MIH members and ensure that all is being done to move projects forward
