Using dramatic performance tackle issues faced by young people such as stranger awareness, drug abuse, bullying and puberty.

Who we are

Three young people from Essex

Where we're based

Billericay, Essex

When we started

2001

How we started

Emily, Hannah and Natalie decided to set up their own theatre group in a gap year after enjoying studying drama at school.

Our work

HEN's tours schools, theatres and colleges in Essex with issue based plays that engage young people regardless of their social or economic background. They bring to life scenarios the audience are likely to be unfamiliar with and provide positive ways for them to respond. The shows are not only affordable for young people but are highly relevant, especially because they can see their peers acting out issues that are important to them. The group expanded to incorporate male actors, and a broader range of issues.

Future plans

Emily and Natalie's success with HEN's Theatre Company continues, and they are currently touring a number of educational plays that tackle a wide range of issues such as healthy eating, road safety, and bullying, and putting a sparkle into kids parties.
