A vibrant and creative group who came together to have a say on issues affecting them. They have recorded and produced two films about issues facing young people in Hackney, and building links with the police and community in the process.

How we started
The Fawcett Youth Group was set up by a group of young people living in and around the Fawcett Estate in Hackney who wanted to organise youth projects and activities, and have a say on issues affecting their lives. The original young people who set up the group met the youth workers when the workers were doing detached youth work on the streets in the area.
Our work
We do activities planned and carried out by the young people themselves. Our greatest achievement was a docu-drama, 'Connect Cett4', investigating the relationship between police and young people. The group is currently doing an international arts project because they want to share information on the many cultures they are from, and to find out about cultures and countries which they have less knowledge of.
Future plans
The young people want to know more about Britain's nearest neighbour, France. They would like to go on the Eurostar to visit France, they have held many planning sessions to work towards this, and they are planning fundraising events such as an International Food Taster Day to help them achieve this plan.
