Our work
The AWAAZ Youth Project in Hounslow uses drama to address very serious issues. Their recent production, Tuff Love, addresses domestic violence and its impact, particularly on South Asian young people. It has been so successful that members of the group were commissioned to produce a film to be used in a domestic violence education project for schools within the London borough of Hounslow. The drama projects enable young people to script write, perform and manage backstage activities. Involvement also has enabled the young people to develop their self-esteem and confidence, and to control their emotions while also understand serious issues that affect the local community.
Future plans
Were you part of this winning group? We'd love to hear from you about what you're up to now!
A great way for young talented individuals to express a complex and controversial subject. The performance was an eye opener for a lot of people. The project has changed my own personality, and made me realise how my actions can affect others.
