The 2010 winners were announced at a star studded ceremony at London’s BAFTA on 7 December, hosted as ever by Sir Trevor McDonald, who has been a supporter of the awards since their inception.
The event was also attended by the Home Secretary Theresa May, the Secretary of State for Education Michael Gove and Tim Loughton, Parliamentary Under Secretary for Children & Families. Other special guests included Katharine, Duchess of Kent, Will Young, Baroness Newlove and Joyce Moseley, Chief Executive of Catch22.
Young people from the awards fellowship were out in force to welcome guests, who mingled over glasses of homemade lemonade and enjoyed meeting the winners and awards supporters in the PLAnet festival area.
The audience were entertained by drumming dynamoes Ben Clark and Richard Rayner, supported by Future Talent, ‘Teenage Monologues’ performed by young people from Bounce Theatre, and by dance group ZooYouth, who closed the show with incredible energy and style.
